(Amex:Rgn) (www.regenerx.com) proclaimed today that it has been awarded an extra $136,245 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) Office of Orphan Products Development for continued development of its T?4 dose candidate (RGN-137) for intervention of patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare and debilitating skin hot disorder.

"We are very pleased to receive this award from the FDA. Their supporting provides welcomed additional resources to help develop RGN-137 for patients with EB. Currently, thither are no drugs approved to speed up wound healing in EB patients and it is our goal to address this penury. We apprise the FDA's diligence in working with us as we proceed clinical evolution and look forward to completing this phase II clinical trial in 2009," commented David Crockford, principal investigator under the cary Grant and RegeneRx's vice prexy for clinical and regulatory affairs.

About Epidermolysis Bullosa

Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare, and often crushing, genetic disease that has been designated an orphan indication by the U.S. FDA. It is estimated that 'tween 20,000 and 50,000 people in the U.S. are affected with some type of EB, with a similar number in Europe. EB is characterized by the presence of extremely fragile peel and perennial blister constitution resulting from minor mechanically skillful friction or trauma often associated with routine everyday activity. These blisters potty develop into chronic, raw wounds that may likewise occur in the eye, mouth, and internal variety meat and tissues. In its most severe form EB is painful, debilitating, and requires constant care. The disorder occurs in every racial and ethnic group throughout the world and affects both sexes evenly. Patients with the most severe form of EB produce less laminin-5, a protein that induces both adhesion and migration in a wide variety of cell types. Laminin-5 plays a key role in maintaining the structural integrity of the skin and is a vital protein needed for proper healing of wounds. In addition to accelerating wound healing, T?4 has been shown to step-up the product of laminin-5 in animal models.

About RegeneRx Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.

RegeneRx is focused on the discovery and development of novel molecules to speed tissue and organ resort. Currently, RegeneRx is developing three product candidates, RGN-137, RGN-259 and RGN-352 for dermal, ophthalmic, and cardiovascular wound healing, respectively. These product candidates are based on T?4, a 43-amino acid, naturally occurring peptide, in role, under an exclusive world-wide license from the National Institutes of Health. RegeneRx holds over 60 worldwide patents and patent applications related to its engineering and is currently sponsoring three Phase II continuing dermal wound healing clinical trials, a Phase II ophthalmic wound healing clinical trial, and a Phase I parenteral (injectable) clinical trial encouraging systemic delivery of RGN-352 for cardiovascular and other indications.

RegeneRx Technology Background

T?4 is a celluloid version of a naturally occurring peptide present in virtually all human cells. It is a first-in-class multi-faceted molecule that promotes endothelial cell differentiation, angiogenesis in dermic tissues, keratinocyte migration, collagen deposition, and down-regulates rubor. RegeneRx has identified several molecular variations of T?4 that may affect the aging of skin, among other properties, and could be important candidates as active ingredients in pharmaceutical and consumer products. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health, and at other academic institutions passim the U.S., have promulgated numerous scientific articles indicating T?4's in vitro and in vivo efficacy in accelerating wound healing and tissue protection under a variety of conditions. Scientific papers related to T?4's mechanisms of action are listed on RegeneRx's web page: hTTP://www.regenerx.com.

Val Kilmer, Xzibit join 'Bad' update

Join Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendez in Herzog's cop drama

NEW YORK -- Val Kilmer and Xzibit are about to have a "Bad" trip.

They're set to join Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendez in Werner Herzog's cop drama "Bad Lieutenant," an update of Abel Ferrara's cult classic.

The original followed the depraved adventures of a corrupt policeman (Harvey Keitel) investigating the rape of a nun. The new film will feature Kilmer as the partner of Cage's crooked cop and Xzibit as a villain.

"Lieutenant" will likely capture the spirit of the original, with the protagonist's drug intake, his accepting sexual favors as bribes and other elements that endeared so many to the 1992 version.

The original's producer, Edward R. Pressman, will produce the new version with Stephen Belafonte, Alan Polsky and Gabe Polsky. Randall Emmett and Cage's Saturn Films also produce. Billy Finkelstein wrote the screenplay, loosely based on Ferrara and Zoe Lund's script. Filming is set to begin later in the summer.

Kilmer is repped by ICM and Affirmative. Xzibit is repped by Paradigm and Management 360.

Ramsey Lewis has longsighted straddled the bound 'tween bop-oriented idle words and pop music. Most of his recordings (particularly by the mid-'60s) were very approachable and attracted a large non-jazz hearing. In 1956, he formed a triplet with bassist Eldee Young and drummer Red Holt. From the start (1958), their records for Argo/Cadet were democratic, although in the early years, they had a strong jazz content. In 1958, Lewis also recorded with Max Roach and Lem Winchester. On the 1965 albums The In Crowd and Hang On, Ramsey made the pianist into a major drawing card and from that point, on his records became practically more predictable and pop-oriented. In 1966, his trio's force changed with bassist Cleveland Eaton and drummer Maurice White (by and by the founder of Earth, Wind & Fire) joining Lewis. In the seventies, Lewis much played electric pianissimo, although by later in the x he was protruding to acoustic and hiring an extra keyboardist. He toilet static play melodic jazz when he wants to, just Ramsey Lewis has generally stuck to easy listening pop music during the past 30 days. In 2004 he released Time Flies, a appear back at some of his most popular songs through new recordings.

50 Cent Shocked By Exes Arson Accusations

There's some things 50 Cent's bulletproof vest can't protect him from.

The tough-guy gangsta rapper has spoken of the shock he felt after his ex accused him of burning her house down and the pain of being separated from his son.

After her house went up in flames in May, Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of 50's 11-year-old son Marquis, told the TMZ.com Web site that she suspected the rapper had been involved in the blaze.

"He said that he was going to have someone come kill me, and see what he does? This is what he did," she told their cameras.

Now the G Unit star has told MTV News that he was stunned by the claims -- and that she only made them because she's bitter about being cut off from his multi-million dollar fortune.

"The relationship between my wallet and [Tompkins] has changed," he told MTV News. "When people have expensive habits, it's a hell of a transition for them when that money is not there anymore. She said all kind of things about me I never would expect."

But he said the real suffering has been caused by the damage that the rift could do to his relationship with Marquis -- especially after Tompkins took out a temporary restraining order against him last month.

"My relationship with my son is changing because he and his mom aren't friends anymore," he said.

"There's different channels I have to go through. He has lawyers appointed to him through the court. So I have to talk to his lawyer to get things situated for me to for me to actually get him."

"This is the toughest [thing I've had to face], because he's my motivation," he said.
